Combine pinto beans (1 cup) (rinsed), onion (0.5) (roughly sliced), ground cumin (1 tsp), red chile flakes (1 tsp), mexican oregano (1 tsp), and water (4 cups) (hot) in a large pot. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and let cook for approximately mins (120), or until the beans are soft.
