Poached Pear Ghosts
Get creative with your Halloween treats with these fun poached pear ghosts. Poached in sweet apple juice and cinnamon, these healthy fruit snacks are decorated with blueberry eyes and sunflower seed teeth, finished with a spooky pomegranate syrup 'blood'.
Instructions
- 1
Place the pears (4), apple juice (300 ml), and stick (1 cinnamon) into a saucepan. Simmer gently for 20 minutes with a lid on until the fruit is soft, then transfer pears to a plate.
- 2
Remove the cinnamon and simmer the poaching liquid for 10 minutes until it becomes syrupy.
- 3
In a separate small pan, simmer the pomegranate juice (200 ml) for about 10 minutes until thickened into a syrup.
- 4
Stand each pear up by slicing a small piece off the base. Use a skewer to make small holes for blueberries (8 dried) to serve as eyes, and press seeds (16 sunflower) into the flesh to create a scary mouth.
- 5
Drizzle the pomegranate syrup into the ghost mouths, add a splash of apple syrup around the base, and finish with a ground cinnamon (1 pinch).
