Vegan Ham and Cheese Sliders
These easy and delicious vegan ham and cheese sliders, made with fluffy vegan Hawaiian rolls, are the perfect meal for any occasion. They are ideal for lunch, dinner, parties, or any special gathering where you crave a savory and satisfying plant-based bite.
Instructions
- 1
Combine the pineapple juice (1.5 cups) and vanilla (1 teaspoon). Set aside.
- 2
In a stand mixer, whisk together flour (3.5 cups), potato starch (2 tablespoons), instant yeast (1 package), brown sugar (0.25 cup) and salt (1 teaspoon).
- 3
Add in the [pineapple juice mixture].
- 4
Let stand mixer go until dough has come together and is easily coming off sides. It will be a little sticky.
- 5
Place dough on a lightly floured surface and sprinkle with some flour on top (enough for it to not stick to your hands). Form dough into a ball.
- 6
Once the ball is formed, grease the same bowl it was mixed in and place the dough ball back into the bowl. If oil-free, ensure the sides of the bowl are floured or use a silicone bowl.
- 7
Cover with a towel or plastic wrap and let sit for 60-90 minutes in a warm, draft-free place until doubled.
- 8
Once doubled, punch down dough and then pull off pieces into 16 even sizes. (We prefer to weigh the whole ball and then divide by 16 to ensure as even as possible).
- 9
With each piece, fold sides under and roll into balls.
- 10
Place each ball, seam side down, into a greased or parchment lined 9x13 baking pan.
- 11
Cover pan and let rise for another 30 minutes. After this rise, you want the dough balls to be touching each other. If they are not touching, give them a little bit longer.
- 12
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 C) while rising this second time.
- 13
Using melted vegan butter (0.33 cup), brush each roll liberally.
- 14
Put into oven and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- 15
Remove from oven.
- 16
Slice the sliders in half.
- 17
Quarter each [slice of vegan cheese].
- 18
Layer the sliders with one quarter [vegan cheese], vegan deli ham (2 slices), another quarter [vegan cheese].
- 19
Put the tops back on.
- 20
Repeat until all sliders are made.
- 21
Whisk together the melted vegan butter (0.25 cup), spicy brown mustard (0.75 teaspoon), vegan Worcestershire sauce (0.75 teaspoon), and dehydrated minced onion (0.75 teaspoon).
- 22
Brush the sauce evenly across all sliders until no sauce remains.
- 23
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 C) for 15-20 minutes or until tops are golden brown.
