Drain and rinse the raw cashews (1 cup).

Add the [raw cashews], nutritional yeast (0.125 cup) (or nutritional yeast (0.25 cup) for stronger flavor), garlic powder (0.5 tsp), fresh lemon juice (2 tbsp), sea salt (0.5 tsp), and water (0.25 cup) to a blender or food processor.

Place the lid on the blender or food processor and turn on to blend. Slowly add more [water] through the hole at the top until the sauce has reached your desired consistency. You may need even more than the water (0.5 cup) to thin.
