Tart Cherry Mulled Wine
This warming, non-alcoholic mulled beverage is a delightful alternative to traditional mulled wine, crafted with tart cherry juice and aromatic spices. Perfect for the holidays, it fills your kitchen with an amazing aroma and requires minimal ingredients and time.
Instructions
- 1
To a large saucepan, add tart cherry juice (1 quart), orange peel (2 tbsp), cinnamon sticks (2 whole), cloves (5 whole), star anise (2 whole), and freshly squeezed orange juice (0.25 cup).
- 2
Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce to medium-low and cook for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to develop. Remove from the heat, strain through a fine mesh strainer, and stir in whiskey or spiced rum (3 oz) (if using). Serve warm.
- 3
Best when fresh. Leftovers will keep stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Reheat in a saucepan or the microwave until warm. Not freezer friendly.
