Homemade Vegan Bagels
These easy homemade bagels are made with a high-protein vegan yogurt dough and self-rising flour. With no yeast or boiling required, they are perfectly thick and chewy, finished with a golden seeded crust. A quick and foolproof way to enjoy fresh bagels from scratch in just 30 minutes.
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C/350°F and line a large baking tray with parchment paper.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine self raising flour (1.75 cup) and plain vegan greek yogurt (1 cup). Mix with a wooden spoon or spatula until a thick ball of dough forms.
- 3
Lightly dust a clean kitchen surface with extra flour. Transfer the dough and gently knead it on both sides, flattening it into a circular disk.
- 4
Slice the dough circle into 4 even portions. Use your hands to roll each piece into a thin rope, then join the ends together to form a ring.
- 5
Place the bagels on the prepared tray. Lightly brush the tops with plant based butter (1 tbsp) and sprinkle with sesame seeds (1 tbsp) and poppy seeds (1 tbsp).
- 6
Bake for 20-22 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before slicing.
