Crispy Tofu
This simple recipe yields perfectly crispy tofu using just three ingredients. By pressing the tofu and coating it in savory tamari and nutritional yeast, you create a satisfying texture and deep umami flavor without any oil. It is an ideal protein staple for bowls and salads.
Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 425F. Drain the extra-firm tofu (1 block) and press as much liquid out as possible using a tofu press or clean dish towel.
- 2
Cut the dry tofu into even bite-sized cubes. In a large bowl, gently toss the cubes with tamari (1 tbsp) until evenly coated.
- 3
Add nutritional yeast (2 tbsp) to the bowl and gently mix until the cubes are fully coated with the flakes.
- 4
Transfer cubes to a baking sheet lined with a silicone mat. Bake on the top rack for 20 minutes.
- 5
Carefully flip the cubes and bake for an additional 20 to 30 minutes until very crispy. Let cool slightly before serving.
