Instructions

  1. 1

Arrange one oven rack in the lower third and another in the upper third. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Place a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper on the lower rack to heat up.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, toss the frozen broccoli florets (16 oz) with extra virgin olive oil (1.5 tbsp), sugar (0.5 tsp), kosher salt (0.5 tsp), ground black pepper (0.25 tsp), and red pepper flakes (1 pinch) until evenly coated.

  3. 3

Carefully remove the hot sheet pan from the oven and spread the broccoli in a single layer, placing flat sides against the pan where possible.

  4. 4

Return to the lower rack and roast until tender and browned at the tips, about 16 to 18 minutes. For extra crispiness, move the pan to the top rack and broil for 1 to 2 minutes.

  5. 5

Remove from the oven and squeeze lemon (1 small) over the florets. Serve immediately while hot.
