Instructions

  1. 1

To bake your [sweet potato], preheat oven to 400 degrees F (204 C). Split in half lengthwise, lightly oil with olive oil (0.5 tbsp), and place face down on a foil or parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake until soft (25-30 minutes).

  2. 2

Or, to steam, place the [sweet potato] in a steamer basket over 2 inches of simmering [water] and cover. Steam for roughly 5-10 minutes or until fork tender. Let cool slightly before adding to blender.

  3. 3

Add all ingredients (including loosely packed sweet potato purée (1 cup), ripe banana (1 medium), almond butter (1 tbsp), ground turmeric (0.25 tsp), cinnamon (0.25 tsp), ginger powder (0.25 tsp), flaxseed meal (0.5 tbsp) or chia seeds (0.5 tbsp), unsweetened almond milk (0.75 cup), orange juice (0.25 cup), and handful ice (1 large)) to a blender and blend until smooth, scraping down sides as needed.

  4. 4

Taste and adjust seasonings or sweetness as needed. Add more [banana] or [orange juice] for sweetness, and more [ice] to thicken.

  5. 5

Split between two small glasses and serve. Garnish with extra [cinnamon].
