To a small blender or food processor, add chickpeas (0.5 cup), nutritional yeast (1 tbsp), garlic cloves (2 small), lemon juice (1 tbsp), tahini (1 tbsp), sea salt (0.25 tsp), ground turmeric (0.25 tsp), curry powder (0.25 tsp), ground cumin (0.125 tsp), cayenne pepper (1 dash) (optional), and maple syrup (2 tsp), and water (0.33 cup).

Blend on high until creamy and smooth. Add more [water] as needed until a thick, pourable sauce is achieved.

Taste and adjust flavor as needed, adding more [sea salt] to taste, [curry powder] for spice, [tahini] for creaminess / nuttiness, [lemon juice] for acidity, [cayenne pepper] for heat, or [maple syrup] for sweetness.

Use immediately or store covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. You can also freeze it for up to 1 month and thaw before use (do not heat), although best when fresh.
