Homemade Vegan Baguettes
These easy vegan baguettes require just four simple ingredients and minimal effort for an incredibly delicious result. Far superior to store-bought options, these homemade baguettes are perfect for any meal and come together in just a few hours.
Instructions
- 1
In a large bowl, whisk together bread flour (5.5 cups), instant yeast (1 package), and salt (2 tsp).
- 2
Add water (2.25 cups). Using a spatula, fold until mostly combined. Add more [bread flour] if needed to prevent stickiness and form a ball. Knead until smooth.
- 3
Grease the bowl and return the dough ball.
- 4
Cover and let rise for 90 minutes in a warm, draft-free place until doubled.
- 5
Punch down the dough and divide into 4 even pieces. Roll each piece into a ball. Cover and let rest for 15 minutes.
- 6
Take one piece, flatten into a circle. Fold the right side to the middle, pinch. Fold the new right side over to the left, pinch ends.
- 7
Roll into a 15-16 inch log. Place on a parchment-lined, lightly floured baking sheet. Repeat for remaining pieces.
- 8
Let rise for 60 minutes or until doubled. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F during the last 15 minutes.
- 9
Score the bread with a lame or pairing knife. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- 10
Remove from oven and serve.
